Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October, 1964 is an American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president, and also holds the title of most powerful female officer in the history of America. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been attorney general for California from 2011 to 2017, and as an United States senator representing California from 2011 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected the city's district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris was the United States junior senator from California, from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for health care, federal de-scheduling and legalization of cannabis, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She was well-known for her direct questions to Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
